Chronodate Titanium Storm Blue

Grey and blue – the colours of a stormy sky. A new and sporty men’s timepiece joins the Chronodate family. Angelus’ pointer date chronograph is sustaining momentum with this storm blue version.

Riders on the storm

Its 42.5 mm satin-finished titanium case, its similarly satin-finished titanium bracelet, and its technical look make a wonderful match with this new shade of blue.

Following on from black, fern green, navy blue and opaline white, the Chronodate introduces a new dial colour: storm blue, which forms a striking contrast with the snailed metallic black chronograph sub-counters. The Chronodate Titanium Storm Blue is available on either a black rubber strap or the titanium Angelus bracelet.

The Chronodate collection fuses together Angelus’ different styles: that of a historical house that is part of Swiss watchmaking heritage and that of a modern, technical brand with a passion for extreme complications.

A modern case

The Chronodate Titanium Storm Blue continues the fusion between vintage and modern seen in Angelus’ sporty chronographs. The Chronodate maintains its standards of modernity and comfort with a modular multi-structure case. The movement is housed in a container machined from a hard, rigid yet lightweight carbon-fibre composite. The chronograph push-pieces, also made from carbon composite, are directly applied to this vessel.

Around this container, Angelus has designed an openworked cradle that brings the case middle and lugs into a single line. It also houses the bezel marked with twelve notches. This modular superstructure can feature several different materials. The energy emanating from its chamfered profile and the alternating straight lines and curves give the Chronodate collection a sporty style.

Chronograph Dynamics

The Chronodate recalls the brand’s historical roots since Angelus was a manufacturer of first-rate chronographs from the 1940s onwards. They were small in diameter to cater to the tastes of the time. Their counters stood out, appearing particularly large and visible. It was therefore logical for Angelus to give today’s Chronodate substantial counters that allow for optimal readability.

The 30-minute chronograph counter and the small seconds at 9 o’clock adopt the dial’s secondary colour: a metallic black, which adds to the modernity of the Chronodate’s design. The primary storm blue shade is applied with a fine matte powdered effect, which contrasts with luminescent appliqué hour-markers.

Inside the Chronodate Titanium Storm Blue, Angelus has incorporated its own chronograph movement, the calibre A-500. It features the small seconds at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock. A peripheral pointer date hand travels around the dial. Operating at a rate of 4 Hz, the movement incorporates a column wheel and a horizontal clutch to reduce its thickness. Its self-winding system operates by means of an oscillating weight with a design taken from the brand’s archives: a capital letter “A” reminiscent of a bell – an allusion to the early days of Angelus, right at the heart of the mechanism.
